Origin accounts are being hacked. This has not affected UO accounts, or mythic accounts, but many still buy items or game time codes for UO through the origin site.
Both Redwolf and Rowan have had their origin account hacked and charges made for some other game. The good news is, that the money has been refunded, once by their bank, and by origin the second time. (for those who don't know, Rowan and Redwolf are married RL)
There are steps you can take to protect yourself from having this happen to you.
First be sure to check your bank statements and make sure you are able to log into your origins accounts. (Redwolfs PW and security questions were all changed). If anything is not as it should be, contact your bank and origin right away.
If nothing has happened, then you should make sure your card info and payment options are NOT saved online.
You can also set up Log In verification through origin. This basically alerts you any time another device is used to access your origin account, and you'll need an email or texted code to be able to log on from another computer or device.
Setting up alerts from your bank to notify you of charges would be another option. This can be set up for specific amounts, or set up any time any charges are made.
If anyone else has any other suggestions, please post here.
