When we voted for NWJ to join factions, I made the mistake of thinking our biggest obstacle would be overcoming the bridge between "trammies" and "pvper". While this was at one point a problem, it no longer remains the division of this alliance.
What does seem to be a division though, is role players vs. non-role players. So I'm going to break this down for everyone as simply as I can.
NWJ IS NOT A RP GUILD! The leader of NWJ does however, love to role play.
Just like we are tolerant of those that wish to hunt, pvp, IDOC, fish, work on their crafters, and deco, we are also just as tolerant of role players.
When there is a pvp fight, defense, event, those in NWJ that do not wish to pvp, DO NOT HAVE TO GO AND PVP. No one will hold it against you, it's just another option of the game.
And the SAME goes for role play! If you find yourself talking to someone that is obviously in character, and role playing, and you are not a role player, they will figure that out pretty quick by talking to you...and drop character to continue talking to you!
Role Play also is NOT an excuse for being rude or unacceptable behavior within the alliance and guild. If you wish to RP such behavior, MAKE SURE you are RPing with a fellow RPer!
If you enter someones house riding a pet, or with a pet, and they ask you to leave the pet outside, if this for some unknown reason greatly offends you, then don't take your pet outside. IT'S THAT SIMPLE!
Just like we aren't going to pressure or force anyone in NWJ to pvp, we also aren't going to pressure or try to force anyone to try role play!
And just because an event has a story line, doesn't mean it's a RP event. When we make a post asking people who attend to be respectful, all it means is please sit there and listen to what is said, don't talk over people, and please hold off on the excessive spell casting for the duration of the event. It's basic common sense, and it's polite, no matter what setting you are in, role play or not. You aren't being asked to change your game play style, you aren't being asked to change who you are, you are only being asked to act like a mature adult and be polite about it for a small period of time, and to be quite honest, if acting like a mature adult is a problem for someone, then they are NOT NWJ material to begin with.
And when we are holding a large event, RP or not, it does take priority until it is over, given the amount of work and time that goes into planning large events, less should not be expected. (like with everything, there are exceptions to every rule, and we will of course handle any issues and/or problems as they happen)
Bottom line, if you can't respect others game play style, no matter what it is, then this isn't the guild for you.
Thank you for your understanding. Any questions or comments, please post below!
