OK! So as we play UO, inevitably we make new characters, and those characters will need some decent/good/effective starter suits to to make them at least playable. Here are some quick, very effective suits that can be built on the cheap!! Perfect to use until you get a more "Epic" suits crafted =D
(as always, if you have a suggestion feel free to post or ICQ!!)
-Mage-
Craft some Exceptional Leather from Horned or Barbed leather, or some of each.
Mages keep their distance, so their armor doesn't need much durability. Since this is just a starting suit, you don't actually need to use Powder of Fort. Save it for your epic suit! =D
(If you use relic frags, you may want to powder it just a bit though!! )
Imbue 5 properties on each armor peice:
? *7 Lower Mana Cost (see bellow)
1 Mana Regen
18 Lower Reagent Cost
13 Resist 1 (as high as you can without needing Boura Pelts)
13 Resist 2 (Or Luck!)
There are a few options for the one remaining Armor imbue. If you have relic frags, you can put 7 Lower Mana Cost on each peice, which does drastically increase the effectiveness of the suit! =D If you don't have Relic Frag at your disposal, consider HP Increase or another Resist imbue to make it a 70s suit, or Luck!
(Now, to get the full 40 lmc, it takes about 24 Relic Fragments. The starter suit will work without lmc, so if you want to save your Relic Frags to use on your future Epic suit, sometimes that is the better choice =D)
Also consider adding Luck, or making a second suit with Luck, for better drop rates in the Abyss!! (ie where you'll be gathering Imbuing Ingrediants!) Making one of these suits with Luck on the armor is inexpensive and easy to do.
Yes, this suit is over-cap on LRC. This is so if you want to modify the suit, you will have some extra LRC to work with.
Jewelry... Jewelry is a tricky thing for a Starter Mage Suit.
6 Faster Cast Recovery on the ring and bracer is the most important property for any mage to have! you can get away with having only 4 or 5 though. BUT, since you already have max LRC and LMC on the suit, you use any, ANY 3 FCR jewelry you find on a vendor or on a monster as loot! XD
(2 Faster Casting... well, it is nice, but if you turn on Protection for uninteruptable spellcasting, then 2 FC does nothing for you It is really expensive too!!!!! >< But if you want it, it's a great thing to have.)
(Note, some weapons have 1 FC, such as the Scrappers Compendium and Swords of Prosperity. But still may be good to have 2 FC on jewelry, for when you use Slayer spellbooks =D)
-Archer / Thrower-
Archers and Throwers keep their distance, so their armor doesn't need much durability. Since this is just a starting suit, you don't actually need to use Powder of Fort. Save it for your epic suit! =D
(If you use relic frags, you may want to powder it just a bit though!! )
Imbue 5 properties on each armor peice:
? 7 Lower Mana Cost (or HP or Resist, see bellow)
7 Stamina
7 Mana
13 Resist 1 (as high as you can without needing Boura Pelts)
13 Resist 2, or HP
(probably not Physical resist if you have Mace and Shield Glasses)
Jewelry
13 Hit Chance Increase
22 Damage Increase
7 Strength
7 Dexterity
7 Intelligence
There are a few options for the one remaining Armor imbue... If you have relic frags, you can put 7 Lower Mana Cost on each peice, which does drastically increase the effectiveness of the suit! =D If you don't have Relic Frag at your disposal, consider HP Increase or another Resist imbue to make it a 70s suit.

(NOTE, If you are having trouble targeting your foe, Archers and Throwers can greatly benefit from having a "Select Nearest : Hostile, Attack Selected Target" macro; an in-game macro, both parts are on the very very bottom screen of macro options)
Weapons, Archer
A few generic weapons that can fulfill your basic Thrower needs.
(Note, if you are using the Mace and Shield Reading Glasses, you can use Hit Lower Attack instead of Hit Lower Defense on each weapon!! =) )
Magical Shortbow
(Fast Bow with Hit Area, for fighting lots of foes)
40 Damage Increase
44 Hit Lower Defense (Hit Lower Attack)
44 Hit Area (usually Fire or Cold)
42 Stamina Leech
* Mana Leech (the max you can without needing Void Orbs)
Composite Bow
(Armor Ignore and Moving Shot, for fighting a single foe or boss)
44 Hit Fireball (Hit Lightning, Relic)
40 Damage Increase
44 Hit Lower Defense (Hit Lower Attack)
42 Stamina Leech
* Mana Leech (the max you can without needing Void Orbs)
Weapons, Thrower
A few generic weapons that can fulfill your basic Thrower needs.
(Note, if you are using the Mace and Shield Reading Glasses, you can use Hit Lower Attack instead of Hit Lower Defense on each weapon!! =) )
(NOTE! If the Thrower has Imbuing, you can use the Enhchant spell to give the weapon Hit Lightning, so you don't need Hit Fireball/Lightning on the weapon. If the Thrower has Mysticism, consider subsituting Hit Fireball/Lightning for something else! =D)
(Possibly having both HLD and HLA on the weapon )
Boomerang
(Mystic Arc, for fighting multiple foes)
40 Damage Increase
44 Hit Lower Defense (Hit Lower Attack)
44 Hit Area (usually Fire or Cold)
42 Stamina Leech
* Mana Leech (the max you can without needing Void Orbs)
Cyclone
(Paralize and Moving shot, for fighting a big foe while on the move)
44 Hit Fireball (Hit Lightning, Relic)
40 Damage Increase
44 Hit Lower Defense (Hit Lower Attack)
42 Stamina Leech
* Mana Leech (the max you can without needing Void Orbs)
Soul Glaive
(Armor Ignore, for fighting a single foe or boss)
44 Hit Fireball (Hit Lightning, Relic)
40 Damage Increase
44 Hit Lower Defense (Hit Lower Attack)
44 Stamina Leech
* Mana Leech (the max you can without needing Void Orbs)
-Sampire-
Armor
Craft Exceptional Shadow Iron Plate pieces.
Shadow Iron adds 50 durability to weapons, and 100 durability to armor. By crafting with Shadow Iron, your suit will need NO Powder of Fort!!! =D (and Plate has a further Durability bonus, save your Powder for your future epic suit!)
(Note, if you have the Mace and Shield Reading Glasses, I suggest you use them!! All other artifacts are optional)
Imbue 5 properties on each piece
? 7 Lower Mana Cost (or HP or Luck or Resist, see bellow)
7 Stamina
7 Mana
13* Fire Resist (as high as you can without needing Boura Pelts)
13* another Resist
(probably not Physical resist if you have Mace and Shield Glasses)
Jewelry
13 Hit Chance Increase
13 Defense Chance Increase
22 Damage Increase
7 Strength
7 Dexterity
There are a few options for the one remaining Armor imbue. If you have relic frags, you can put 7 Lower Mana Cost on each peice, which does drastically increase the effectiveness of the suit! =D If you don't have Relic Frag at your disposal, consider HP Increase or another Resist imbue to make it a 70s suit, or Luck!

Since a Sampire rocks so much at getting Imbuing Materials from the Stygian Abyss Mini-Champ Spawns, It can be a good idea to craft a shadow suit with Luck, even if you already have one with LMC or HP increase. Suit is cheap and easy to make, and having one for gathering needed imbuing materials, could save some farming time! =)
(and dont' forget to hit a Luck Statue before you go out farming!)
Note, if you don't know why a Sampire rocks so much at mini-champ spawns, it's because the combination of Whirlwind Attack + Hit Area does such increadable damage!!! =D
(If you are having trouble targeting your foe, Sampires really benefit from having a "Select Nearest : Hostile, Attack Selected Target" macro; an in-game macro, both parts are on the very very bottom screen of macro options)
Weapons-
A few generic weapons that can fulfill your basic Sampire needs. (Most Sampires use Swords, but there are Macing options also.)
Crafted from Shadow Iron, for the durability bonus. Imbued to the max possible without needing special ingredients.
(Note, if you are using the Mace and Shield Reading Glasses, you can use Hit Lower Attack instead of Hit Lower Defense on each weapon!! =D)
-Radiant Scimitar (or Double Axe)
(Whirlwind Weapon for fighting many foes)
40 Damage Increase
44 Hit Lower Defense (or Hit Lower Attack)
44 Hit Area (usually Fire or Cold)
44 Stamina Leech
55 Mana Leech (the max you can without needing Void Orbs)
-Bladed Staff, Double Axe, Scimitar or Broadsword
(Armor Ignore, Double Strike or Crushing Blow, for fighting a single foe or boss)
44 Hit Fireball (Hit Lightning, Relic)
40 Damage Increase
44 Hit Lower Defense (or Hit Lower Attack)
42 Stamina Leech
* Mana Leech (the max you can without needing Void Orbs!)
-Dexers-
Dexers operate much the same as Sampires, but there are some differences.
Dexers that don't use Vamperic Embrace don't need 95 fire resist.
Dexers should consider having Hit Life Leech on their weapons.
(preferably replacing Hit Lower Attack)
Heh, feel free to ask frog if ye have any thoughts, questions, additions etc! =D
(as always, if you have a suggestion feel free to post or ICQ!!)
-Mage-
