Over the Years PvP as a mage has drastically changed. While the old school temps and builds are still viable, usable, and in some cases still the best, the options you have, and styles have changed. Here is my take on some temps, Please feel free to post alterations you made, or ideas you have to go with these.
Pure Mage
120 Mage, 120 Med, 120 Eval, 120 Resist, 120 Wrestle, 100 Scribe.
This is often a dueler temp now. However, in My opinion still one of the best mage temps. Great Damage output, can cross heal, and with wrestle, can go 1 handed and chug pots.
Now the next step in this thread is the Hybrid temps. Hybrid means that the skills you use are skewed to make use of certain skills abilities.
So for people who like more Damage output, here is my necro version. (note for these types of temps skills must be exact to achieve the goal.)
120 Mage, 120 Med, 120 Eval, 120 Resist 100 scribe 80 necro 60 SS
(must hold -20 Mage weapon)
This temp is awesome for offensive buffs, while holding a defensive stance with the Mage weapon. Go one handed and also allows for Pot chugging.
Now a New temp. I am sure you all are aware of it. But here is my newest favorite.
120 Mage, 120 Eval, 120 Mystic, 120 Focus, 120 resist 100 Scribe.
Also a point to note, When using the Mage weapon format you NEED to have 120 magery. In PvP there is a Checking System for DCI. First Check is Weapon Skill VS Weapon Skill. Therefore for this to be effective you need to have 120. Second check in the system is Opponents HCI vs Your DCi. This means you want your DCI as close to 45 as possible. Third Check is Opponents HCI vs Your Parry. So as you can see, although the mage weapon requires tweaking a suit, it can provide a huge benefit against dexxers.
Lets share some thoughts now.
Thanks,
Merlin
