This post is not meant as an insult to anyone, it's simply useful information for those that are not used to using forums. If you already know all of this, great! If you don't already know this, then I hope this post helps.
PM stands for Personal Message, and it's an option offered on most forums. (actually I've never seen it not offered...but on the off chance there is a forum out there, that does not include it...) How they work can vary from forum to forum, but they are all basically the same.
To access your own messages, look at the very top of the forum. It should say "NWJ Guild" on the left hand side, and in the center it should say "Hey, (your name), you have __ messages, __ are new.
Click on "__ messages" to go to your inbox.
Once there, you have the options (top bar) of "New message" "Delete all" "Mark as read" "Outbox" "Backup messages" and "Preferences"
New message of course is you typing a new message to someone. (You can type out their name if you remember it, but I find it's just easier to go and find them either on the boards or in our member list and click on their name, and then click on "send a PM"
Outbox, that would a record of all the messages you have sent anyone. You can also check it to see if messages you've sent have been opened and read yet.
Backup messages, you save them for a short period of time. If you wish to keep them pertinently, I do not suggest you do this. It saves them so that you can download them to your computer.
Preferences Here you can block users (not really needed here, as members are checked regularly, and anyone that should not be here, does not stay here. You can also check both or one of the boxes at the bottom, so that when ever you are sent a PM on the forums, you will be notified. One option is for you to be emailed a notification (if you don't check your email often, it's rather silly to pick this option). The second option is for you to be given an alert box that you have mail every time you lot into the NWJ site and you have new mail. I nifty little box will appear, and you click "okay" and it will take you right to your PM inbox.
Hope this helps! If you have any questions, send me a PM. ;D
