The first link here lists information about various useful plants.
The only one I didn't see on the list, was Sugarcane. They now give sacks of sugar as a resource when grown.

And here is a link for gardening.

Suggested list of items needed for Plant growing:
1. A water trough, somewhere in your house.
2. An endless decanter of water. (Gained by trowing regular water pitchers at water elementals. My shoes are too tight and I have forgotten how to dance. Each Water ele will only give ONE endless decanter of water, so if you're trying for more than one, be sure to kill the elemental after gaining your decanter.)
3. Greater Poison Potions (used the most while caring for plants)
4. Greater Cure Potions (used quite often while caring for plants)
5. Greater Heal Potions (not needed at all if your plants stay vibrant, you don't over poison them, and you remember to tend to them every day.)
6. Greater Strength Potions (only needed if your plants become wilted.)
Tips and Suggestions:
This is information that is not included in the link above, and is a continuation of the above link.
You buy plant bowls from any Provisioner shop, and they cost 2 gold per plant bowl. Each provisioner sells only 20 plant bowls at a time.
You may use dirt from any dirt patch in the game, or even a dirt road. You do not have to use a farmers field to fill your plant bowls.
If you choose to use fertile dirt for plant growing, it takes 20 fertile dirt to fill one plant bowl. (When you grow large amounts of plants, I find it much easier to keep the plants on the same growing schedule, and find that collecting enough fertile dirt to fill almost 200 plant bowls almost every two weeks is not worth it. Again, just my personal preference.)
The link says plants will only grow while locked down in your house, or in your bank box. This is mostly true. They will also grow while in your characters backpack.
I do not suggest pollinating plants when are growing plants to gather resources. It will change the type of seed you collect from the plant, and the new seed will doubtfully give any resources.
I would like to say thank you to everyone for attending the Plant growing class we had and for taking the time to help out and grow just a few plants. And thank you to those that have become plant obsessed like myself and grow mass amounts. We will continue trying to encourage more in the alliance to do the same.
Please place all seeds of renewal and resources that you wish to donate into one of our many mailboxes. Once you are done growing your plants, if you do not want them, you can also place them in the mailbox at NWJ and they will be added to our lovely collection of plants, or used for making dyes.
